No Frills 2012 Bids

Here are the bids for No Frills 2012! Make sure you read them over before we get to conference, because there are a lot and we won't have time to spend reading them during boardroom!

When you click the link there will be a button in the top right hand corner to download the zip file. Please email swacurhweb@nacurh.org if you have any problems!

If you downloaded before 9am on Tuesday, January 31, please redownload the President's file. Unfortunately the file I uploaded for the Presidents had one mistake in it. In the Building RHA, ATU's bid from 2011 was included by mistake and there was no evaluation form. The zip file has now been corrected and I have also added the evaluation form to the page on its own.

Fall 2011 Diamond Duckathelon Results

Hey, SWACURH!

Can I just say how PROUD I am of the many amazing OTMs that have been produced by your campuses during our first semester? From the outset, when you all wrote the most nationally-winning OTMs over the summer of any region in NACURH, I've been incredibly impressed by the hard work, growth, and commitment to recognition which has been demonstrated by SWACURH's chapters.

Before I share the Diamond Duckathelon points results for our first semester, I want to emphasize that with 2032 total points, you all are so close to the regional goal of 2500 points for the year, and that's insane! Considering that that number was based on exceeding what last year's OTMs would have earned pointswise, this represents a huge amount of development within our region, and that's thanks to all of the hard work done by NRHH-CCs, chapter presidents, NCCs, advisors, chapter members, and anyone who's written an OTM during the past few months. Congratulations to all of you!

For Fall 2011:
1st Place: Oklahoma State University
2nd Place: Texas Christian University
3rd Place: Stephen F. Austin State University
Most Improved: Tulane University, Texas Woman's University
Regional Total: 2032 pts

Great job, all, and I'm looking forward to seeing NCCs, NRHH-CCs, Presidents, Advisors, and more at No-Frills 2012: Get a Clue!

With all the diamond duck love in the world,

Lydia Sexton

OTM Update!

Hey SWACURH!

Kaytie's right; Semis at UC-Boulder was crazy busy, but also crazy fun! Most of all, though, it was crazy productive! As AD-NRHH, one of my responsibilities is to serve on the NRHH National Board, and this year's board discussed and voted on several pieces of legislation regarding NRHH policy and procedures.

One of the most important changes we made was through a piece of legislation from the NRHH Standard Committee. This legislation altered the OTM categories slightly, and also added descriptions for all of the OTM categories to policy. This action should clarify the difference between OTM categories, and should also ensure that there's a place for residence life staff as opposed to academic faculty/staff.

As a result of this piece of legislation, and effective starting with January OTMs, the national and regional OTM categories are as follows:

Advisor
Residential Community
Community Service Program
Diversity Porgram
Educational Program
Executive Board Member
First Year Student
Institution Faculty/Staff (IMPORTANT: Since this was created as a new category on the database, campus administrators will need to activate it on the campus level so OTM authors can submit to it and a campus winner can be selected)
Organization
Passive Program
Residence Life Faculty/Staff
Resident Assistant
Social Program
Spotlight
Student

Descriptions for these categories have been sent out to the NRHH listserv and should be updated in the online copy of policy soon! Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks, and Ducky Love!

Hello from NACURH Semis!

Hey SWACURH!

Greetings from Boulder, Colorado!

Mitch, Lacey, Lydia and I are currently attending the NACURH Semis at the NACURH 2012 host site CU Boulder. It has been a crazy busy week, but also a crazy fun week as well! Mitch, Lacey and Lydia have been working hard in the boardroom reading and discussing bids, discussing and voting on some important legislation, getting updates from the annual conference, National Executives, our AMAZING corporate sponsor On-Campus Marketing, and the other regions and offices that make up NACURH, and updating the group on what has been happening in our region as well. We had a bit of fun tonight, as the Conference Staff planned a photo scavenger hunt around campus (perhaps we can post some of the photos on here!) The Conference Staff has been wonderful and you are all in for a great experience at NACURH this year!

I have been able to not only be in the boardroom with them (and let me tell you, it makes me a proud Mama Duck to watch them represent our region in such a QUACK-tastic manner!) but I have also been able to sit down and work with the other Regional Advisors and Office Advisors. I am so blessed to have such a great group of peers to work with this year. We talked a lot about where the ART program is going in the future (get ready for some exciting updates coming your way soon!) and also about some new initiatives that I am excited to be able to have the chance to work on and bring back to help benefit the awesome Advisors of SWACURH. I am so excited to get back to SWACURH and begin working!

Just a quick little update for you-time to get back to business at Semis!

Ducky Love,

Kaytie :-)
